ABOUT THE PROJECT
Shaffaf/shafafiyat Project
The security of the information environments of countries in the Global South (and beyond) requires constant monitoring, as well as detailed analyses demonstrating the influence of powers such as Russia, China, and Turkey on public perceptions of issues related to politics, economics, international relations, and democratic values, including the ability to self-determine—free from pressure and manipulation.
The Albatros II – MENA project, implemented for the second time by the INFO OPS Polska Foundation, aims to counter disinformation and information threats in Lebanon, Iraq, and Egypt. We are examining the impact of disinformation and external propaganda on the societies of these countries. The project will produce reports, analyses, and defense strategies. We educate and suggest what should be done to minimize the risk of foreign influence.
Lebanon, Iraq, and Egypt are countries in the Global South. Due to their location, as well as political, economic, and social conditions, they are of strategic importance to the entire region. This, in turn, increases the risk of external influence from Foreign Malign Inflation (FIMI). Therefore, it is crucial to understand how Russia, China, Iran, Belarus, and Turkey influence these countries and how this propaganda impacts local communities.
In the face of the growing threats associated with FIMI, it is essential to conduct extensive research and educational activities. Projects such as Shaffafiya, implemented in Iraq and Kurdistan, Lebanon, and Egypt and led by the INFO OPS Polska Foundation, aim to counter disinformation and build social resilience to false narratives. International cooperation, organizing conferences and training sessions, and developing and distributing educational materials that not only increase knowledge but, above all, raise public awareness of information threats, are crucial in this process.
The Szaffaf Project is primarily an educational series that improves society’s ability to identify threats to the security of the information environment and warn against ongoing propaganda and disinformation operations.
OUR MISSION
One of the goals of the Szaffaf Project is to familiarize audiences with the actual intentions and active actions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the Global South, with particular emphasis on Iraq, including the Kurdistan region.
This project is focused on identifying and countering disinformation and propaganda campaigns.
Fighting disinformation is a fight for the freedom and security of decision-making, both for individuals and the entire state. Szaffaf/szaffafiat symbolizes freedom and independence, and our project is dedicated to fighting for these values!
